+39 0381 348170The Museum offers a unique journey through the life and work of Leonardo, who stayed in Vigevano as superintendent of waters under the commission of Ludovico il Moro, and also as a member of the court of Ludovico and Beatrice, who always admired his refined artistic skills, worldly charm, and scientific and mathematical genius.
The National Archaeological Museum of Lomellina is a state-owned institution open to the public. Inaugurated in 1998 and expanded in 2006, it is housed in some of the most evocative spaces of the Sforza Castle in Vigevano. The museum gathers archaeological findings from excavations or occasional recoveries throughout the Lomellina area, with the aim of promoting their knowledge and making them accessible to a wide audience visiting the city and its monuments.
The Museum of the Treasure of the Vigevano Cathedral is located in the Upper Sacristy of the Vigevano Cathedral. The main purpose of the museum is the preservation and accessibility of the ecclesiastical artifacts it houses. At the same time, it aims to maintain the character of faith and religiosity that these items, due to their unique nature, have borne witness to throughout the centuries.
Cathedral Treasure Museum Footwear Museum The International Footwear Museum is located on the first floor of the Sforza Castle in Vigevano. It is named after Pietro Bertolini, one of the leading footwear entrepreneurs and founder of the famous Ursus Gomma. As early as the 1930s, Cav. Bertolini began collecting historical shoes, documents, memorabilia, and various objects related to the world of footwear, thus creating, within a few years, a true private museum dedicated to shoes. Admission to the Footwear Museum is completely free.
The Ecomuseum of the Roggia Mora – Mora Bassa Mill is located in Vigevano(via Mora Bassa no. 38), at a 15th-century mill equipped with two large water wheels. The hydraulic building, owned by the Irrigazione Est Sesia Association of Novara, was restored and converted into a museum in the year 2000, thanks to contributions from the Lombardy Region and the Municipality of Vigevano. Commissioned by Ludovico il Moro, the structure features architectural elements that reflect the extraordinary skill and knowledge of Leonardo da Vinci, who was present at the Sforza court during those years.
